Austin Texas, USA

Since the origin of the building itself, the water was the cause of its existence and the power generating element for the city during a period of time. Due to this fact, the urban and architectonic proposals take into account the water in its different conditions, as the main promoter of activities and civic integration. The idea is based on the recovery and rehabilitation of the existing buildings through their connection with the urban environment, cultural interventions and future developments in the surrounding areas of Austin city.
The project integrates the future urban developments within the district plan, as well as existing public spaces and bike paths, with the aim of continuing the existing urban structure of the city and to recovery the unused green spaces. It has been proposed walkways, bike ways, public spaces and landscaping, in order to connect the north side of the city with the biulding. At the same way, it has been established water connections with the south side of the city by the Ladybird Lake due to aquatic transport systems, for both mobility and recreational use. Thus, the building generates a transformation of green spaces and strengthens the relationship with the river, which is an important symbol of the city. Water remains as the most important element of integration, because the landscaping, equipment and activities designed to the building are related with it.
